Tỏi bóc bỏ vỏ, cho vào cối cùng ớt, giã nhỏ. Lá hương nhu (húng quế) vặt lấy lá, rửa sạch không cần cắt. Trong chén nhỏ trộn đều hỗn hợp nước sốt gồm 2 muỗng canh nước, 1.5 muỗng cà phê nước tương, 1 muỗng cà phê hắc xì dầu, 1/2 muỗng cà phê đường, 1 muỗng cà phê dầu hào.
Thịt thăn heo rửa sạch, thấm khô nước. Dùng dao cắt nhỏ rồi tiến hành băm nhỏ.
Đun nóng dầu ăn, cho tỏi và ớt giã nhuyễn vào phi vàng ở lửa to khoảng 15-20 giây. Nhanh tay cho thịt vào, dùng muỗng dằm dằm nhanh tay khỏi thịt vón cục với nhau. Đảo cho thịt săn và chín. Đổ chén nước sốt đã trộn và dầu hào vào thịt rồi đảo đều liên tục khoảng 2-3 phút. Cho lá húng quế vào, đảo đều 5-10 giây là được.
